March Madness 2014: Eastern Kentucky wins Ohio Valley, punches ticket to NCAA Tournament

On Saturday night, with the Ohio Valley Conference championship and an NCAA Tournament berth on the line, the Eastern Kentucky Colonels punched their ticket to the big dance with a 79-73 win over perennial tournament participant Belmont.

Eastern Kentucky got a huge effort from guard Core Walden who dropped in 29 points, grabbed five rebounds and added in five assists with three steals in the win. Also scoring over 20 points was Glenn Cosey who put in 23 points with two rebounds and five assists.

The Colonels enter the tournament now with an overall record of 24-9 and could sneak up on someone with their shooting efforts, which got them through not only the regular season well, but this Ohio Valley Tournament.

In this game alone, they shot over 51% from the field and 50% from three-point range, which no doubt will improve once they hit the dance.

But, congratulations for now to the Eastern Kentucky Colonels.
