A lot of baseball teams (especially those with a more traditional history) lack a mascot. But cheerleaders? That’s pretty laughable idea in the baseball community, well, unless you’re the Miami Marlins.

You may recall, a few years back the Miami (then Florida) Marlins debuted their cheerleading squad – the Miami Mermaids.

It was laughed at, but the franchise needed something presentable on the field and the cheerleaders appeared to be the only thing worth watching as the Marlins routinely fed at the bottom of the National League East standings.

With a new ballpark came a ‘re-branding’ of the Marlins cheerleaders as they’re now known as the ‘Miami Marlins Energy Team‘.

The Miami Marlins Energy Team is a high-energy squad with a unique mix of gymnastics, hip-hop, acrobatics, modern jazz funk and break dancing. The Team will provide excitement and entertainment during Miami Marlins homes games and appearances throughout the community.

Whatever the name, the eye candy is still quite hefty.
