MLB Rumors: Angels' Josh Hamilton should be ready 'within a week or so'

For the beginning of the Major League Baseball spring training season, the Los Angeles Angels have been without Josh Hamilton as he recuperates from a calf injury that he suffered while doing some baserunning drills. However, the star is close to returning, according to a report from the Los Angeles Times.

In the report, Mark DiGiovanna states that a return is imminent, and Hamilton will begin taking batting practice on Sunday.

Left fielder Josh Hamilton, sidelined for the past week and a half because of a left calf strain, is scheduled to take batting practice on the field Sunday, and Scioscia said Hamilton should be ready to begin playing in games “within a week or so.”

With four years remaining on his enormous contract, Hamilton has a ton to prove for this team after what was a lackluster 2013 debut after coming over from the Texas Rangers. The problem in this scenario is that the team shouldn’t want to rush him back too soon.
