The Toronto Blue Jays have been in and out on free agent pitcher Ervin Santana this offseason, most recently out after the team decided to go into spring training with what they had.
But apparently they’re back in as Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports reports the Blue Jays are exploring a one-year, $14 million dollar offer with Santana.
It’s a drastic fall from Santana’s reported asking price of $100 million dollars when the offseason began and would be a coup of a deal for the Jays given the circumstances.
In recent days it’s been reported that Santana was thinking of changing agents, disappointed with how the offseason has unfolded. Though he (and other starting pitchers, like Ubaldo Jimenez) simply asked for too much money out of the gate.
Keep in mind – there is no official deal between the Blue Jays and Santana at this time, though the two sides appear to be in talks.
