Chesson Hadley shot a five-under 67 to take the lead heading into the final round of the Puerto Rico Open. Hadley is at 16-under total, one shot ahead of Danny Lee.
Hadley has two top-10s in his rookie campaign on the PGA Tour. He tends to play well on the weekend, but he will have plenty of competition looking to track him down in the final round.
Danny Lee fired a third round 66 to jump into second place at 15-under total. Lee has only made two cuts in nine previous events on the PGA Tour this season. He will look to take advantage of his stellar play tomorrow.
Jason Gore and Jonathan Byrd are tied for third place at 14-under.
At the Northern Trust Open, Gore said he considered quitting professional golf. We are all happy he is back in contention after a third round 66.
Byrd is a five-time winner on Tour, but he is coming off a difficult 2013 season in which he missed 10 cuts in 16 events. He shot a third round 67 to join Gore at 14-under total.
Carl Pettersson, David Toms, and Jerry Kelly are all tied for fifth place at thirteen-under. I wouldn’t be surprised if one of these veterans finds his way to the winner’s circle Sunday afternoon.
