Hopefully the first week of May has gotten your Streak for the Cash entry get off to a strong, green-filled start.  My picks have been rolling right along lately, so hopefully you’ve been able to build a decent streak coming into this jam-packed Saturday of Streak action.

A picks from the EPL gets things started today before the waves of college hoops start at 12:00. There are a ton of picks today, so I’ll highlight as many as I can while posting brief thoughts or lines as often as possible. The board tends to be very dynamic this time of year with picks being added late, but I’ll do my best to keep up. I’ll also be on twitter @ZT_Sports if you have any questions about specific matchups. Here are my picks for the day with a confidence level for each on a scale of 1-10:

3/8 Streak Picks

7:45- West Brom Win or Draw: It’s unusual that Man U is in bad form, but they are right now as they go on the road to take on West Brom. The Baggies should be well rested since they haven’t played a match in two weeks and motivated to avoid relegation. They have earned a draw in four straight home matches and either a win or draw in seven of their last eight matches at the Stadium of Light. Confidence-3

Mar 5, 2014; Lawrence, KS, USA; Kansas Jayhawks guard Brannen Greene (14) dunks the ball against the Texas Tech Red Raiders in the second half at Allen Fieldhouse. Kansas won the game 82-57. Mandatory Credit: John Rieger-USA TODAY Sports1

12:00- Kansas Jayhawks: The first apparent gift of the day, this game sees KU go on the road to West Virginia as four point favorites. In their previous meeting, the Jayhawks won by 14 at home.  West Virginia is better at home in Morgantown, but I don’t think they have enough to pull the upset. Confidence-7

12:00- Memphis Tigers: In the first of our college hoops games featuring a pair of ranked teams the 20th ranked Tigers host the 18th ranked SMU Mustangs. Memphis is favored by 3 1/2 at home where they have won eight straight including wins over then-#7 Louisville and then-#23 Gonzaga.  Memphis hast lost two of their last three but those losses came on the road, so they get my pick here. Confidence-3

12:00- Marquette Golden Eagles: Marquette is always very good at home and are favored by three as they host St. Johns. Earlier this year the Johnnies trounced Marquette in Madison Square Garden, but the Golden Eagles are a totally different team at home. Confidence-4

12:05- Florida wins by Double Digits: The top two teams in the SEC meat in Gainesville where the Gators are eight point favorites over Kentucky. The Gators tend to steamroll everyone at home, so I think they’ll win and cover over a Wildcats squad that has been inconsistent at times this season. Confidence-6

12:30-  Chelsea win: The Blues at home are -175 favorites even giving the draw, and with their current form it would be foolish to pick against them. Confidence-5

1:30- Kansas State Wildcats: The Octagon of Doom is a tough place to get a road win and it took Baylor double-overtime to dispatch the Wildcats in Waco earlier this season. Both teams could definitely use the win to bolster their resume, but I can’t go against the home team here when KSU has won 15 in a row at home after opening the season with a loss at home to Northern Colorado.  During that run they’ve beaten five ranked teams in Manhattan, so I don’t think an inconsistent Baylor can go in and get the win. Confidence-6

1:35- Matt Kuchar: Kuchar and Mahan are both big names who have struggled at Doral with the tough conditions and newly-renovated Blue Monster. They’re tied for the lead at just -1 after shooting matching 74′s yesterday. This is a coin-flip, but I think Kuchar was slightly better. Confidence-3

2:05- Connecticut wins or Single Digit Loss: In what should be a great game the Huskies head to Louisville in another ranked vs. ranked matchup.  The Cardinals are nine point favorites but I think UConn can keep it close. Confidence-4

2:05- Iowa State Cyclones: Another home team that is just too tough to pick against is the Cyclones who host Oklahoma State in their Big 12 regular season finale. ISU is favored by three. Confidence-5

2:05- Georgia Tech Winning Margin: Coming off a win in Syracuse, the Yellow Jackets are favored by seven over the Hokies who have lost 15 of their last 16 games. Confidence-6

Mar 6, 2014; Detroit, MI, USA; Colorado Avalanche goalie Jean-Sebastien Giguere (35) celebrates with left wing Cody McLeod (55) after defeating the Detroit Red Wings at Joe Louis Arena. The Avalanche won 3-2 in overtime. Mandatory Credit: Rick Osentoski-USA TODAY Sports

3:00- Colorado AvalancheThe Blues are enjoying their new goalie as Ryan Miller has powered the team to four straight wins, but he hasn’t fared well against the Avs who are one of the hottest teams in the NHL themselves. Colorado is 21-8-3 at home this season, but one of those losses did come to St. Louis who has been dominating in conference play this season. I’d avoid this game on Streak, but it should be a great game to watch. Confidence-2

3:10- Seattle Sounders win: The MLS is back and Sporting KC begins their title defense against a totally overhauled Sounders squad. It’s hard to say what form these squads will have, but the fans in Seattle can always be counted on to give the home team a lift. Confidence-4

4:05- Oregon DucksIn another game that looks like a gift on the surface, the #3 Arizona Wildcats take on the Ducks in their Pac-12 regular season finale.  Oregon are three-point underdogs at home even though they’ve won their last six in a row and only lost by two when they went on the road to face Arizona. This definitely isn’t an easy pick, and I think the Ducks will finish their regular season in style with an upset win. Confidence-3

4:05- Tennessee wins by Double Digits: The Vols are destroying everyone not named Florida when they visit Knoxville. They rolled Vany in their last home game 76-38 and have won all their conference games at  home by double digits except against Florida, Texas A&M, and Arkansas. Mizzou has lost it’s last four road games. Confidence-5

4:30- Any Other Result: Confidence-2 1/2

6:05- Michigan wins by Double Digits: The Wolverines are favored by 10 1/2 as they host the Hoosiers.  Michigan will be looking to avenge their 11-point road loss in Bloomington and trying to finish their regular season with a five-game winning streak. Confidence-5

6:30- Colorado Buffaloes: The Buffs are in Berkeley to take on Cal as both teams wrap up their Pac-12 schedule. Cal’s favored by four, but Colorado has the guard play to get this road win against the Golden Bears who have dropped three straight and four of their last five. Confidence-4

7:00- New Jersey Devils: The road team has won each of the previous meetings between these two teams, but I think the Devils have the advantage tonight at the Prudential Center where they’ve won two of three since the Olympic break. Carolina is just 1-5 since the break, so I’m definitely taking New Jersey on their home ice to stay hot despite a tough loss last night in Detroit. Confidence-5

Mar 6, 2014; Boston, MA, USA; Boston Bruins left wing Loui Eriksson (21) scores a goal on Washington Capitals goalie Braden Holtby (70) in front of right wing Eric Fehr (16) defends during the second period at TD Banknorth Garden. Mandatory Credit: Bob DeChiara-USA TODAY Sports

7:00- Boston Bruins: Tampa has lost three in a row as they host the Bruins who have beaten them three times this season.  In fact, Boston has won the last seven meetings between the two teams and 11 of their last 13 regular season matchups. Boston is 11-2-3 in their last 16. Confidence-6

7:00- Philadelphia Flyers: Toronto actually has a better record on the road than at home as they host Philly who has been playing well lately with three straight wins and W’s in seven of their last eight. Confidence-3

7:00- Washington Capitals: The Coyotes visit Washington where the Caps look to newly-acquired Jaroslav Halak to give their offense a much-needed boost as they push to the playoffs.  Phoenix has won their last two games but have struggled on the road going 1-4-5 in their last ten road games.  The Caps typically fare well against Coyotes goalie Mike Smith, so I think they’ll get the win here. Confidence-4

7:30- New York Knicks: The Knicks travel to Cleveland where they come in 3 1/2 point underdogs even though they’ve picked up back-to-back wins including a win last night over Utah. The Cavs lost last night to Charlotte on the road and have dropped three in a row. LeBron James is expected to be at the game, so the Cavs may get some extra motivation, but the Knicks have the firepower to get this road win if they decide to play at their best. Confidence-4

8:30- Minnesota Wild: The Wild have won five in a row as they head to Dallas to take on the Stars who are also playing well.  This should be another good NHL matchup between two playoff-hopeful teams, but it’s a very tricky one to pick. Confidence-3

9:05- Gonzaga wins by Double Digits: The Zags are favored by 12 as they take on Santa Clara. in their opening WCC tournament game. Gonzaga beat SCU by 14 at home early in the season then squeaked out a two-point road win over the Broncos at the end of January.  Santa Clara beat Pacific  two nights ago to get their tournament run started but now face a tall task taking on the Bulldogs. Confidence-4

9:05- North Carolina 3-Pointers Made or Tie: North Carolina take on their rival Dukies as 7 1/2 point underdogs. UNC beat Duke by eight a few weeks ago as part of their 12-game winning streak. Although Duke is tough at home and should win, I do expect this game to be close no matter what meaning I’ll take the points and the under-dogs in this one. Confidence-6

11:40- Alvarez wins before the 10th Round: Confidence-4
