Another Cuban defector has now found a home in Major League Baseball.
Bob Nightingale of USA Today has reported that the free agent shortstop has signed a four-year major league deal with the St. Louis Cardinals. He will report to Spring Training on Monday. The New York Yankees and Minnesota Twins were also in rumored negotiations with the 23-year old shortstop. The financial terms of the deal are unknown.
Currently, the Cardinals have Jhonny Peralta as their everyday shortstop with Kolton Wong expected to be the second baseman with Mark Ellis in backup.
