As teams around the league gear up for the official start of free agency on Tuesday afternoon, they are beginning to negotiate deals with pending free agents and re-sign their own players who will be hitting the open market.

For the Chicago Bears, their early start to the offseason came on Sunday night when they re-signed quarterback Jordan Palmer and defensive tackle Nate Collins.

Each player was re-signed to a one-year deal, the team announced.

Collins is simply a reserve defensive lineman while Palmer provides depth under center for a team who is likely to lose Jordan Palmer.
