Clayton Kershaw, Hyun-Jin Ryu will start in Sydney

The match-ups have been set for the 2014 season opener between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Arizona Diamondbacks in Sydney, Australia on March 22nd and 23rd.

Los Angeles Dodgers’ manager Don Mattingly officially announced that National League Cy Young Award winner Clayton Kershaw will start the season against Patrick Corbin. Korean lefty Hyun-Jin Ryu will face off against Trevor Cahill.

It was debated for some time as to whether the Dodgers’ ace would pitch in Australia for fear of potential over-exposure in the first official week and a half of the season. Ryu starts the second game because Zack Greinke is not available due to a calf strain.
