Henrik Lundqvist notches 300th career win as Rangers top Red Wings

What could be better than a 3-0 shutout over the Detroit Red Wings for New York Rangers fans? How about fan-favorite goalie Henrik Lundqvist picking up his 300th career win in the process.

Lundqvist notched 30 saves in the Rangers 3-0 shutout en route to his landmark win, which is also the 49th blanking of an opponent in his career.

The entirety of Madison Square Garden started to chanting “Hen-rik! Hen-rik!” as time expired and the Rangers began to celebrate.

The Rangers’ netminder now only trails Mike Richter in all-time wins for the franchise.

Lundqvist has struggled since the Winter Olympic games ended, going 0-2-1 in his first three starts after returning from Sochi. However, he has won two straight games with a three-game road trip to Carolina, Minnesota and Winnipeg next on the schedule.

The victory put the Rangers a game ahead of the Philadelphia Flyers in the East’s Metropolitan Division, and gives them a a three-point cushion over the Red Wings in the overall East standings.
