MLB Rumors: Relationship between Braves manager, Dan Uggla strained?

Atlanta Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez had to make a tough decision last season – leave Dan Uggla off the postseason roster.

It was the correct decision of course given how poor Uggla had played, but that didn’t make it any easier.

Of course, Uggla didn’t take the demotion very well and the relationship between the second baseman and the manager was apparently strained because of it.

Pressed on how they’re working together this Spring, Gonzalez hinted at the strain but said their relationship is a ‘work in progress’.

“We talked [this spring],” Gonzalez said. “But you know what? It’s still a work in progress. I think the professional side of it is there, because that’s the way Danny is. He’s a professional. And I’m obviously professional. But it’s still a work in progress, on the relationship side of it.”

Doesn’t sound like the two will be enjoying ice cream together anytime soon, but they seem to be working through their issues.
