Another team punched their ticket to the NCAA Tournament on Monday night when the Manhattan Jaspers defeated the Iona Gaels to capture the 2014 MAAC Tournament championship.
This will be the Jaspers’ first appearance in the NCAA Tournament since the 2004 season.

It wasn’t easy by any means as the Jaspers narrowly escaped this one, 71-68. Manhattan got a tremendous performance in this one from George Beamon as the guard finished with 16 points and eight rebounds on the night in leading his team to the hard fought win.
As the conference tournaments begin to play themselves out, the big dance for 2014 is slowly beginning to take shape, and Manhattan is the latest team to help with that effort.
This is one of the last of the smaller conference tournaments to finish up as this week, the big boys will get ready to take center stage.
