MLB Rumors: Atlanta Braves looking to sign Ervin Santana?

The Atlanta Braves lost starter Kris Medlen this weekend and with the duration of his recovery currently unknown, they’re looking into alternative possibilities.

Once such would be making a play for free agent pitcher Ervin Santana.

According to David O’Brien, a source close to the Kansas City Royals (Santana’s former team) hints the Braves could make a run for the veteran arm.

Hearing from person connected to Royals that #Braves could be making a run at Santana.

Santana, who was asking for a $100 million dollar contract this offseason overpriced himself and remains on the market with Spring Training underway.

On Saturday, news broke suggesting that Santana was pondering a decision between the Toronto Blue Jays and Baltimore Orioles, both of whom offered one-year, $14 million dollar contracts (approximately).

It would be a little odd to see the Braves offer anything close to that given they’re already near their salary ceiling, but desperate times can call for desperate measures – especially with both Medlen and Brandon Beachy on the mend.

As the Santana Turns…
