NFL Free Agent Rumors: 49ers interested in Nolan Carroll?

Add another team to the list of teams interested in cornerback Nolan Carroll.

The veteran defensive back who spent last season with the Miami Dolphins isn’t likely to cost much on the open market, which is likely driving up his interest because Carroll’s game isn’t anything special – certainly not enough to garner such interest.

But regardless, Carroll for whatever reasons has teams knocking on his door, the latest being the San Francisco 49ers.

After releasing Carlos Rogers on Monday afternoon, San Francisco is now in need of a replacement which is why they’re likely linked to Carroll.

If the 49ers had a weakness last season, it was the inability to stay with the deep ball. Carroll, who routinely found himself being burnt on deep passes wouldn’t help San Francisco much with their biggest issue.

San Francisco, given three straight NFC Championship appearances shouldn’t have trouble bringing in a better defender.
