The NFL free agency market will officially open for business on Tuesday, but already players and teams are setting sights on one another ahead of time. For free agent safety Jairus Byrd, his sights are set on not a team, but a dollar amount he wants from any team willing to offer it.

According to Bills blogger James Walker fem ESPN, Byrd is looking to net at least $9 million per season on his next contract.

Per ESPN.com:

"Free agent Jairus Byrd is aiming to become one of the NFL’s highest-paid safeties when he hits the open market Tuesday. A source tells ESPN.com Byrd is seeking a long-term deal in the range of $9 million per season."

Buffalo reportedly offered Byrd $30 million over the first three years of a five year deal and that was rejected. That doesn’t mean Byrd will reject $10 million per season if offered but he maybe just didn’t want that from the Bills.

The Dolphins, Eagles, Vikings and Jets are all teams with reported interest in Byrd and the price tag seems to have been set by the man himself.
