Darren Sproles is the smallest guy on the football field, but the former New Orleans Saints running back/ returner is expected to be one of the biggest names on the free agent market which begins on Tuesday. According to Bleacher Report’s Mike Freeman the Washington Redskins are the front-runner to sign the offensive weapon.

Sproles would complement Alfred Morris in the backfield very well and give Robert Griffin III a high-percentage target in the short passing game where he and Drew Brees had so much success in each of the past three seasons he was in New Orleans after beginning his career with the San Diego Chargers.

Sproles isn’t quite the same dynamic player he was during his first season in New Orleans, but he is still a dynamic weapon that would infuse a lot of life into the Redskins offense.

The Philadelphia Eagles and New England Patriots are expected to express interest in Sproles, but this looks like its Washington’s race to lose.
