The UFC is on a roll, and it continues this weekend with UFC 171 live on pay per view. In the main event of the evening, the dawn of a new Welterweight era will begin as Johny Hendricks takes on Robbie Lawler for the vacant Welterweight title in the absence of long time champion, Georges St-Pierre.
Before the title bout gets underway, the UFC has a stacked card for fans to salivate over. One of the more intriguing battles on the card is a Lightweight clash between Myles Jury and Diego Sanchez.
Sanchez is coming off his incredible war with former StrikeForce Lightweight champion, Gilbert Melendez, back at UFC 166. Sanchez ultimately lost the decision, but once again showed the heart of a lion in a gritty and incredibly paced three round battle. There is no doubt that the bout with Melendez garnered new fans for Sanchez, but he needs a win next Saturday night.
Jury, a member of TUF season 15, is undefeated in his pro MMA career. Since losing to Al Iaquinta on TUF, Jury has won four straight inside the Octagon. Although his last bout way a dismal fight against Mike Ricci, Jury was able to secure his fourth victory in a row. That win garnered him a shot at one of the original TUF winners, Diego Sanchez. Jury is determined to show that he is among the upper-echelon of the UFC’s Lightweight division.
