The Philadelphia Eagles were a surprise success in 2013 and they’re looking at this offseason’s pool of free agents to get even better and go even farther. Two players that appear to be on the Eagles radar are Lamarr Houston and Nolan Carroll.
According to Eagles beat writer Geoff Mosher, the Eagles have contacted both players but have competition when it comes to acquiring their services.
The Eagles placed a call to the Raiders’ young, run-stuffing defensive lineman, and found out that his price tag is likely too high for what they’re willing to pony up. … The Eagles are one of several teams to call about Carroll, who has five career starts since being picked by Miami in the fifth round of the 2010 draft.
Chip Kelly’s offense was the talk of the NFL but their defense wasn’t too shabby either. It’s a unit that could use improvement though, as Philly is far from a perfect team but not that far from being a Super Bowl contender. Adding Houston and Carroll doesn’t guarantee anything but it goes a long way in making sure the Eagles don’t slump in 2014.
