Justin Verlander breezes through Tigers debut

The questions were there about how well Justin Verlander would pitch after coming back from core surgery AND having his first spring start delayed due to weather.

The answer, it appears, is “Just like Justin Verlander.” Verlander finished up his 2014 Spring Training debut against the Toronto Blue Jays after 3.2 innings. The only reason it wasn’t a full four was because of a 10-pitch battle with Maicer Izturis.

Verlander sported mainly a low to mid-90s fastball and sprinkled in a handful of curveballs. Anthony Fenech of the Detroit Free Press has the former Cy-Young and MVP award winner at 3.2 IP, no runs, one hit, two walks, two strikeouts, and 52 pitches.
