The Atlanta Braves starting pitching rotations looks like something from a MASH unit. From Kris Medlen possibly having ligament damage to Brandon Beachy having elbow issues, the Braves are simply in damage control right now doing what they can to keep the wheels from falling off.
They’ve already went out and traded for a borderline replacement starter, but the loss of Medlen and potentially Beachy means the Braves will likely need to bring in some hefty mound firepower.
There have been rumors linking them to Ervin Santana (who is said to be mulling contract offers from the Toronto Blue Jays and Baltimore Orioles) but one such name the Braves may have interest in is Jeff Samardzija of the Chicago Cubs.
Last season (and even during the offseason) the Cubs attempted to trade their ace, but couldn’t find a deal to their liking. They’re still reportedly open to moving Samardzija and it’s been said the Braves are big fans.
The rumors are out there, and he hears them. The Braves, who now need pitching, with new elbow concerns for Kris Medlen and Brandon Beachy on successive days, are believed to like Samardzija very much. So should any team needing a potential top-of-the-rotation starter.
