The Oklahoma City Thunder are facing the very real possibility of losing Derek Fisher to retirement in the offseason and the team is looking at ways to possibly bring him back. Kevin Durant has already come up with a plan for getting Fisher back, but he says he’s going to allow the veteran to enjoy the playoff push by the Thunder first before enacting his master plan.
Durant said he plans to speak with Fisher’s family this offseason about allowing him to delay his retirement.
“I’ll wait until we’re done,” Durant said in hopes he can help deliver Fisher’s sixth NBA title. “I’ll let him enjoy these last few months.
“After that, I’m going to do some negotiating.”
Getting Fisher back would be great of the continuity of the Thunder, but winning it all this year would give Fisher little incentive to return. Durant wants a title at all costs, and it’s clear that he’ll resort to begging if he has to in order to get all the pieces he wants.
