Could Darren Sproles be joining Adrian Peterson in the Minnesota Vikings backfield? It’s a distinct possibility according to the NFL Network.

Insider Albert Breer says the New Orleans Saints have still yet to officially cut Sproles (despite reports leaking last week that he would be released) but once he is let go, the Vikings will be a team to watch.

"The Saints still haven’t officially cut Darren Sproles. If New Orleans can’t deal him, one team to watch for Sproles — The Vikings."

Sproles would be nothing more than a change of pace running back in Minnesota (when he’s not in a two-back set), but he was in a heavy rotation with the Saints despite being on the field quite often.

The tie to Minnesota may stem from offensive coordinator Norv Turner, who is now with the Vikings and coached Sproles during their tenure with the San Diego Chargers.

Spoles of course rose to fame with the Chargers and excelled under Turner. The pint-sized running back could also aliviate the passing game woes for Peterson, who despite being a world class talent, isn’t exactly the most premier pass catcher.
