This much we know: the Tampa Bay Buccaneers will either trade or release star cornerback Darrelle Revis. He will not be back playing for them next season.
How they part ways with him, however, remains very much up in the air.
Any team can take their shot at signing Revis if the Bucs make him a free agent. But before that happens the team understandably wants to see if they can find a team eager enough that they would trade for Revis.
In that context the rumors linking teams to a possible deal have come and gone, with the Cleveland Browns considered the most serious candidate as of today when free agency opened.
It sounds like that potential trade is dead, making it likely that the Buccaneers will release Revis.

Teams are already paying a ton for corners, and with a potential bidding war on the horizon, Revis should find himself (another) nice payday in free agency.
