NFL Rumors: Denver Broncos have ‘high interest’ in Jared Allen

When free agents are cleared to sign with NFL teams at 4pm ET today, don’t look for Minnesota Vikings defensive end Jared Allen to be among the first to put his John Hancock on a new contract as he enters free agency for the first time in his 10-year career.

— Tom Pelissero (@TomPelissero) March 11, 2014

Allen, 31, is coming off an 11.5-sack season and has averaged more than 14 sacks per season during his six-year run in Minnesota after they acquired him in a trade with the Kansas City Chiefs.

Allen may have lost a step from the player who racked up 22 sacks in 2011, but he still has plenty of gas left in the tank and if he does sign with the Denver Broncos as Pelissero mentions are of high interest to Allen, he would combine with Von Miller to give the Broncos a nasty set of pass-rushers.
