The New York Giants locked up running back Peyton Hillis on Tuesday before free agency opens and it appears that they have eyes set on adding another back to the roster. According to CSNBayArea reporter Fallon Smith, the Giants have extended an offer to free agent running back Rashad Jennings.

There was hope by Raiders fans that Jennings would be retained, and such a scenario is not yet out of the question. Darren McFadden’s downfall in Oakland was solidified with the standout season that Jennings had in the Raiders’ backfield and he’s looking to cash in with a nice contract.

That question now is, will that contract come from the Raiders, the Giants or possibly someone else? It hasn’t been a hot market for free agent running backs so far, but Jennings is good enough and young enough to warrant more attention.
