The free agent running back market has been slow to develop, but things could begin heating up on Wednesday with the early aggression on the open market out of the way. One of the first running backs that is receiving interest on Day 2 of free agency is Houston Texans back up Ben Tate.
Often times running backs can be undervalued because of the punishment their bodies take over the course of their career, but Tate has served in a limited role during his NFL career and is fresher than some of the other options out there.
With the Browns lacking a true No. 1 in the backfield, Tate would provide an immediate boost.
The news was passed along on Wednesday by — you guessed it — Adam Schefter of ESPN.
