The New York Jets traded cornerback Darrelle Revis to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2013 and as they prepare to enter the 2014 season, Revis Island may be back in New York. After being cut by Tampa Bay this afternoon, Revis is a free agent ready to sign anywhere and one of those destinations may be in New York with the Jets.

According to Manish Mehta,  the Jets have already reached out to Revis about returning this season to the place he called home his entire career before last season.

"The Daily News has learned that the Jets and the Darrelle Revis camp have discussed the possibility of a reunion one year after a bitter divorce sent the All-Pro cornerback to Tampa. … It’s unknown whether the communication between the parties will ultimately lead to a reconciliation, according to sources, but the Jets are in need of an established cornerback after releasing Antonio Cromartie earlier this week."

The Jets re-signing Revis is not a lock, but it’s not impossible either. Revis had his best years in New York and Rex Ryan has made no secret about his man-crush on the cornerback. It’s a natural fit and the only question is if the bridges have been too badly burned for a return or not.
