The Portland Trail Blazers have enjoyed a significant turnaround in the Western Conference this season. A huge part of their success is the superstar play of understated power forward LaMarcus Aldridge.
Nervous times in Portland tonight, then, as Aldridge exited the team’s game against the San Antonio Spurs with an apparent back/tailbone injury.
From Chris Haynes of Comcast Sportsnet Northwest:
LaMarcus Aldridge is being helped off the court. Doesn’t look good at all.

Aldridge was in the air for a lay-up and then landed directly on his back/tailbone area. Immediately after the play ended Tim Duncan pointed to the Portland bench for the trainers to come out. Play was stopped for a significant chunk of time and Aldridge was moving very gingerly as he was helped off the court.
Depending on how long Aldridge is out, this could be a significant injury in terms of the Western Conference playoff picture.
