There aren’t many players in professional sports – let alone the NBA – with the drive of Kobe Bryant.
It’s almost borders on the line of unhealthy, which is why the Los Angeles Lakers were forced to convince Bryant that he should not play this season.
The Black Mamba stated publicly that his rehab was going slow and that it was frustrating him, which likely forced the Lakers into action, informing Bryant that it was best for all parties that he shut it down.
Los Angeles Lakers guard Kobe Bryant wanted to continue his attempt to play again season, but was convinced by the team it would be better for his health if he not return, league source told Yahoo Sports.
Simply put, Bryant would have only returned for a small handful of games and it’s questionable if he would have been healthy enough to do that. Bryant has nothing to gain from that and the lotto-bound Lakers certainly have nothing to gain from that, so sitting out and not risking further injury was the correct decision.
Bryant’s injury is reportedly the most expensive in NBA history.
