The Minnesota Vikings have been making upgrades to the defense thanks to the arrival of Mike Zimmer, and one guy that could be headed to Minnesota is Panthers safety Captain Munnerlyn. While he hasn’t had a ton of interest, Munnerlyn will be visiting the Vikings this week and he may not leave town without a contract.

According to Vikings beat writer Master Tesfatsion, Minnesota meeting with Munnerlyn is something that is going to happen.

Minnesota has Harrison Smith at safety already, but they need a veteran to line up alongside him. They were briefly linked to bit T.J. Ward and Jairus Byrd but both safeties have since come off the market thanks to the Broncos and Saints respectively.

The market for safety seems to be set, and while Munnerlyn isn’t a bad option, he’s not elite and won’t get elite dollars. That’s something that may work in the Vikings favor and could result in a deal rather soon.
