The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will have new uniforms going into the 2014 season. They’ll also have a new quarterback as Josh McCown signed a two-year deal with the Buccaneers on Wensday afternoon, this according to his agent.
Per Jason La Canfora:
Josh McCown agrees to a 2 yr deal with Tampa per his agent, Mike McCartney. Will have real chance to compete for that job
It’s not known if the paperwork has already been signed or if they Buccaneers are waiting to make a decision on Darrelle Revis, but regardless it appears that McCown is Tampa bound.
Rumors had swirled that McCown would likely join the Buccaneers (as many former Chicago Bears players are doing) given the ties to former Chicago head coach, Lovie Smith.
As for current ‘starting’ quarterback Mike Glennon, Smith has expressed some pretty heavy concern with his arm and playmaking ability (or lack of) so it wouldn’t be outlandish to think that McCown immediately comes in with a foot ahead of Glennon for the starting gig barring a complete meltdown in the preseason.
The deal is worth a reported $10 million.
