One of the biggest signings of the free agent period occurred in the late evening hours when the New England Patriots scooped up cornerback Darrelle Revis less than five hours after he was cut by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

In moving to the Patriots, Revis took a pay cut after a day of refusing to do so, accepting a $12 million salary for the 2014 season rather than his original $16 million the Bucs would have owed him.

Needless to say, free agent safety Ryan Clark saw right though the ‘pay cut’ oxymoron and called Revis out on Twitter.

Revis taking his pay cut for the Patriots is obviously a ridiculous thing to consider, as he’s still making upwards of $10 million per season and while it’s less than $16 million, calling it a pay cut is rather technical.

It’s actually exclusively technical wording and Clark is a smart man for calling it out.
