Titanfall midnight launch experience

Microsoft just recently released a new first-person shooter this week called Titanfall, that’s online only from developer Respawn Entertainment. To celebrate this momentous occasion, at several Microsoft retail stores across North America this past Monday, they held midnight launches.

There were 84 stores in total having midnight launch events and they all had chances where people could earn prizes courtesy of a raffle.

However, at 13 locations there would be a special event where even more prizes were given away and it would give the feel of a real party.

I had a chance to attend the launch event at the Freehold Raceway Mall in NJ, as this was one of the 13 cities selected for a special event. Also at these locations the first 100 people in line were given a free Titanfall t-shirt.

At the event I was able to interview the store manager, John Knoepple and said the anticipation for the game was very high as people were waiting to play Titanfall since the beta was released. John also said there were plenty of pre-orders for the game. He was very helpful and knowledgeable.

The first person was waiting in line beginning around 4:00 p.m. and the number of people in line began to grow at 7:30 p.m., says Microsoft spokesperson. There was about 160-200 people that waited in line for Titanfall.

One of the things that made this event special was an area with a red carpet where people could take photos and there was a Live DJ. Another terrific thing was a special guest made an appearance as well.

The guest was former NFL running back in Keith Elias who played for the New York Giants.

I had a chance to interview him as well and said his favorite game to play is Gears of War. He’s also a motivational speaker for the NFL and works with youth all over NJ to talk about anti-bullying for a foundation called Heroes & Kids.

He’s a casual gamer and really enjoyed playing Titanfall in saying the controls felt very fluid.

All in all this was a great experience which made possible by the Microsoft Retail team and I would like to thank them, as they invited me to the special midnight launch event for Titanfall.
