2014 Big East Tournament: Seton Hall stuns Villanova at the buzzer, 64-63 (Video)

One day after holding off a valiant effort from the Butler Bulldogs, the Seton Hall Pirates were faced with the near impossible task of fending off the top-seed, and third-ranked Villanova Wildcats. Well, all it took was one miracle shot from Sterling Gibbs to make that happen, as the Pirates remain alive with a 64-63 win.

With time running down and needing a prayer, Gibbs stepped up in the biggest way possible for his team, hitting a step-back jumper near the top of the key to give his team the 64-63 win.

Seton Hall had a large lead in the second half, until Villanova went on a 16-0 run to eventually grab the lead. However, Seton Hall, knowing they need to keep winning to make it in to the NCAA Tournament, the Pirates fought their way to the win and keep moving on.

Aside from the amazing finishing sequence, Eugene Teague played a major part in the monumental win today, dropping in 19 points and adding in 12 rebounds as he’s stating his case for the tournament’s most outstanding player early on in the first days.

Seton Hall will now move on to play the winner of St. John’s and Providence.
