The Notre Dame Fighting Irish added another commitment for the class of 2015.
3-star point guard Matt Farrell committed to the Irish on Tuesday evening.
“I’m really excited for the opportunity,” Farrell told Blue & Gold Illustrated in a phone interview Tuesday. “Some bigger schools have recruited me, but Notre Dame really stuck out to me because of the special place it was. The ACC speaks for itself.”
The 6’1, 170-pound Farrell attends Point Pleasant Beach High School in Point Pleasant Beach, New Jersey, an area of the country that Notre Dame is known for recruiting in football. Their basketball program obviously spends a lot of time in the area as well.
Farrell is ranked as the 71st best point guard prospect, 14th best overall prospect in New Jersey and 345th best overall prospect in the class of 2015 according to 24/7 Sports’ composite rankings.
Farrell chose the Irish over the Boston College Eagles, Butler Bulldogs, Fordham Rams and Rutgers Scarlet Knights.
Farrell was originally a Boston College commit, but decommitted back in November.
