New York Islanders Fans Planning Protest

New York Islanders fans are mad as hell, and they’re not going to take it any more. Well, at least, that’s what they’re saying.

To show their massive frustration with the “circus of an organization”, Islanders fans are planning a “massive” protest against the team and it’s owner Charles Wang. From buying tickets solely on the secondary market to wearing jerseys inside out to chanting at specific times of each period, fans in the stands are apparently going to show Wang and the rest of Islanders management who’s boss.

From Isles Nation:

We are protesting the inept Isles organization and management, led by owner Charles Wang and GM Garth Snow. We are protesting the lack of progress of Garth Snow’s rebuild that has dragged out for way too long. We are protesting the lack of accountability surrounding this organization. We are protesting the constant salary of this team being at or near the NHL mandated cap floor.

The chants that will be done during the game are as follows:

With 16:00 remaining in every period, we will chant: WANG MUST SELL
With 12:00 remaining in every period, we will chant: SNOW MUST GO
With 8:00 remaining in every period, we will chant: FIRE CAPPY
With 4:00 remaining in every period, we will chant: WE WANT ANSWERS

The organizers state that a walkout would send the wrong message to the players about what the fans want done with the organization. We’ll see if anything comes out of this “protest”, but, if I had to venture a guess, I’d say not much other than a few highly disgruntled fans will participate.

Everyone will find out on Saturday.

Wang needs to address the issue and talk to the fans directly, and not threw Snow with his pat answers. I don’t understand as a business man who made a lot of money obviously dealing with people who had experience in the financial field, why he would use inexperienced people like Snow and Cappy to run the team. If you want to run the team like a business you have to invest in experienced people who was successful. Which can make you money, or sell the team to someone who knows how.
