The 2014 NFL Draft is still two months away and the free agency period is currently the main focus of teams around the league, but scouting departments are looking through the current draft prospects and determining how highly they rate out.
For NFL.com‘s Gil Brandt, there are nine players who are currently worthy of being selected with the No. 1 overall pick in the draft.
Brandt lists UCF quarterback Blake Bortles, Louisville quarterback Teddy Bridgewater, South Carolina defensive end Jadeveon Clowney, Michigan offensive tackle Taylor Lewan, Buffalo pass rusher Khalil Mack, Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel, Auburn offensive tackle Greg Robinson, Texas A&M offensive tackle Jake Matthews and Clemson wide receiver Sammy Watkins as the players deserving of the spot.
It is a bit surprising to see Lewan land on the list, but he has put together a strong draft season and appears to be rising as the draft approaches.
Listing nine players seems to be a bit generous, with Clowney, Bortles, Greg Robinson and Khalil Mack likely being the only players with a true shot.
