NFL Free Agent Rumors: Owen Daniels visits Washington Redskins

Free agent tight end Owen Daniels recently met with the Green Bay Packers, however Daniels has seemingly been skipped over as the Packers re-signed Andrew Quarless on Thursday morning.

The former Houston Texans tight end decided to move on and will reportedly visit the Washington Redskins.

Next visit for TE Owen Daniels is with the #Redskins, per source.

The Redskins have moved on from Fred Davis (understandably) which leaves them with Jordan Reed and little else.

Of course, Reed is far superior to Daniels (and much younger as well) so Daniels, assuming he was to sign, would be coming in as Reed’s backup. Of course, that still leaves plenty of field time for Daniels and given Reed’s concussion history, I’m sure the Redskins would like a competent backup in case Reed goes down with injury again.

It’s also possible the Redskins could use Reed in more of a ‘wide receiver’ role, leaving Daniels the more traditional tight end routes.

No terms have been publicly discussed.
