Last month on National Signing Day, the Tennessee Volunteers landed one of the top recruiting classes in the country, a huge coup for second-year head coach Butch Jones who is looking to revitalize the program. The class was headlined by wide receiver Von Pearson, who was the fourth-rated player in the country according to the 247 Sports Composite Rankings, and the second wideout overall as a JUCO transfer.
At Volunteers spring practice this week, he showed why he was considered one of the best in the nation, while at the same time giving the SEC a glimpse of what they have to deal with for the next few years.
Everything about that almost screams veteran. His separation from the defensive back, his concentration, the route-running. While, yes, this was just in a practice, there’s no telling how much more Pearson will improve between now and the time September.
He’ll be in Neyland Stadium pulling more of those in.
