2014 AAC Tournament: Louisville Cardinals, UConn Huskies set to square off for title

After Friday night’s action, the title game for the 2014 AAC Tournament is set for Saturday night and it will feature two prominent members of the old Big East going at it as the UConn Huskies will face off against the Louisville Cardinals.

UConn had to fight to get their way to the title game, especially in their semifinal match up. They went back-and-forth with the top-seeded Cincinnati Bearcats, but were ultimately able to walk away with the two-point win when the Bearcats couldn’t convert with time running off the clock. Before that, on Thursday night, they dismantled one of the tournament favorites, the Memphis Tigers.

The defending national champion Louisville Cardinals, however, have had an easy road to this point. In their opening round game on Thursday, they took care of the Rutgers Scarlet Knights by an eye-popping 61 points, and then on Friday, they cruised past the Houston Cougars with a 29-point win.

Now, on Saturday night, these two will duel it out for the right to call themselves 2014 AAC Tournament champions.
