Luckily the Big East Tournament is held in Madison Square Garden, because there’s not better place for the unquestioned best player in the nation to put on a show, and that’s exactly what Doug McDermott did on Wednesday night as he led the Creighton Bluejays to an easy 84-62 win over the DePaul Blue Demons.
McDermott turned in one of his best performances of the season thus far, which is really saying something when you’re talking about him. The senior scoring machine finished up with an incredible 35 points on 14-off-22 shooting, including going 7-of-10 from three-point range.
McDermott wasn’t the only one on fire in the winning effort, though, as the entire team dropped in a combined 14 from behind the three-point line.
Aside from McDermott, on this night, Creighton got a great performance from Austin Chatman, who ended up with 11 points and nine rebounds, nearly capping off the double-double.
With the win, Creighton, McDermott, Chatman and company will now take on the Xavier Musketeers Friday night in the Garden.
