After having a hard time finding a suitor in free agency, it appears that Julian Edelman might not be leaving the New England Patriots after all as Jason La Canfora is reporting that the two sides are trying to work out a deal Friday night.

With over 100 catches last season, it didn’t seem to make much sense at all to let Edelman walk away, but that’s exactly what the team let him do on the first day of free agency after they couldn’t come to terms. But since then, Edelman hasn’t really found what he was looking for and teams are filling less expensive needs at wide receiver.

This news also comes on the heels of the Patriots losing out on the Steve Smith sweepstakes earlier today, as he didn’t even make the trip to visit before signing with the Ravens.

At this point, as La Canfora said, the options are few and far between.
