Athletics' Jarrod Parker to open up year on DL

Oakland Athletics right handed starting pitcher Jarrod Parker will be opening up the 2014 season on the disabled list, according to Susan Slusser on Twitter.

Oakland’s 25 year old pitcher was dealing with a little bit of tightness in his right forearm during the final stretch of the 2013 season and it hasn’t completely gone away. Susan also mentions how fellow right handed pitcher A.J. Griffin will also meet with a doctor in Scottsdale, Arizona.

Griffin is dealing with a right elbow issue and has struggled during the early part of Spring. So that means Tommy Milone will likely be placed in the rotation with both pitchers watching from the dugout.

Jesse Chavez is also expected to join Milone in the rotation for the Athletics, according to Susan Slusser on Twitter.

Chavez has tossed 12 2/3 scoreless innings so far this spring after posting a 3.92 ERA in 35 relief appearances last year.
