Boston Celtics’ Jerryd Bayless thinks Rajon Rondo is a natural leader

After the Boston Celtics traded Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett to the Brooklyn Nets, the Boston Celtics needed a new leader and hoped that Rajon Rondo would become that new leader.

According to guard Jerryd Bayless, Rondo is a “natural leader.”

“I wasn’t here when Pierce, Garnett and Allen were, but it seems like transitioning to being the team leader has come pretty naturally for Rondo,” Bayless said, via his website, JerrydBayless.com. “I think he has been preparing for it for a long time, and it shows. He’s a great leader. He’s able to lead vocally and through his actions. When there’s something that needs to be said, he’ll say it, and he leads by example every day. He’s one of the first to the gym and one of the last to leave. He definitely surpassed anything I would have thought.”

Rondo has been limited to just 19 games in his return from his knee injury and won’t play in any more back-to-backs.

Rondo is averaging 11.9 points, 8.7 assists, 4.6 rebounds and 1.2 steals per game.
