Dodgers Carl Crawford to miss Opening Series?

With Matt Kemp looking like he won’t be ready for the Dodgers’ Opening Series against the Diamondbacks in Australia, it would be nice for Mattingly to have the other three outfielders ready to go. That may not happen, now.

Ken Gurnick of MLB.com says that Carl Crawford’s status for the Season Opener next week is up in the air. This is not because of injury, however; Crawford’s fiancee is expected to give birth to their child. That would place Crawford on the paternity list, thus rendering him ineligible for the Sydney Series.

Without Crawford or Kemp, the Dodgers would be left with Yasiel Puig, Andre Ethier, and could use Scott van Slyke in left field.
