Although the Arkansas Razorbacks suffered a heart breaking 71-69 defeat to the South Carolina Gamecocks in the SEC Tournament on Thursday that will likely keep them out of the NCAA tournament and relegate them to the NIT, it wasn’t all bad news for the Hogs on Thursday.
They picked up a commitment from point guard Jabril Durham.
“I’m really big on family,” Durham Otis Kirk of 24/7 Sports. “The head coach and all the assistant coaches felt like family to me. They came out and went to my dad’s house. They made the trip out to see me too. That showed me they really cared about me. They actually showed me they need me and not just want me. I felt needed not just wanted. They showed me they need a point guard.”
The 6’1, 170-pound Durham attends Lubbock Christian School in DeSoto, Texas.
Durham, who is not currently a part of 24/7 Sports’ composite rankings, chose the Razorbacks over the Auburn Tigers, Marquette Golden Eagles and Oklahoma State Cowboys.
Durham joins point guard Anton Beard, shooting guard Nick Babb and power forward Trey Thompson, who have all already signed, in the Hogs’ class of 2014.
