Jonathan Martin says he never thought about retiring after bullying scandal

The bullying scandal that rocked the Miami Dolphins locker room and caused Jonathan Martin to basically quit the team apparently never killed his love of football. One of the situations that straightened itself out over the first few hours of free agency was Martin being traded to the San Francisco 49ers — literally one of the farthest places away from Miami in both distance and culture.

Now that he’s in a new setting, Martin is opening up a bit and has given some insight into his line of thinking during his hiatus from football. Many thought that he was considering retirement, but Martin says that was never the case.

Martin’s hiatus from football was noteworthy in that he hasn’t played a down of football since the middle of last season. There are questions about how well he will come back for the 49ers, but no matter what happens it seems that this sort of a return to football was always the plan for Jonathan Martin.

I am glad he is gone. The Dolphins will have to get a new girl for their locker room now though.
