Marian Hossa has been out of the Chicago Blackhawks lineup since he suffered an upper-body injury in the first period in the team’s win against the Pittsburgh Penguins on March 1 and will miss tonight’s game against the Nashville Predators, but it could be the last one the veteran right winger misses.
“I actually feel better than yesterday,” Hossa said after participating in Friday’s morning skate, his first since the injury. “That’s a good sign.”
Hossa is expected to make his return to the top line vs. the Detroit Red Wings on Sunday or the Philadelphia Flyers on Tuesday.
The Blackhawks have averaged three goals in the four games he’s missed to this point as the team has gone 2-2, with both losses to the Colorado Avalanche who passed the Hawks for second place in the Central Division in the Western Conference.
Hossa has 24 goals, 26 assists and a plus-25 rating in 57 games this season for the Hawks who are in fifth place in the conference as they attempt to win their second Stanley Cup in as many years and third in five years.
