Michael Doctor, Oregon State linebacker, granted extra year of eligibility

Oregon State Beavers linebacker Michael Doctor has been granted a fifth year of eligibility by the NCAA, the school announced Thursday.

Doctor, who led the Beavers in 2012 with 83 tackles, suffered a season-ending injury during the second game of OSU’s 2013 campaign.

In the release from the school, Doctor said he’s excited to get back out on the field with his teammates:

“I’m very excited to have another year. Last year was bittersweet for me. I had a chance to learn from a coaching perspective and watch guys like Jabral (Johnson) and Rommel (Mageo) grow and I think from all of this it will make me a smarter player.”

Doctor’s return means the Beavers will have excellent depth at linebacker in 2014, seeing as all of last season’s starters are still with the program.
