There have been mixed reports swirling over the last 12 hours about the future of cornerback Brandon Browner and whether or not he’s still a free agent or not. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reporter that Browner had agreed to terms with the New England Patriots, but that report was refuted by Browner’s agent — a guy who directly benefit from such a deal.
After Schefter’s report was shot down, it was believed that Browner would be visiting the Redskins on Friday but it appears that meeting will not be taking place. According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport and Albert Breer, Brandon Browner isn’t even in the Washington D.C. area, which seems to suggest he may have agreed with the Patriots after all.

This doesn’t for sure mean that Browner is signing with the Patriots, as there was no mention of his reported visit with the New Orleans Saints being cancelled like the one with the Redskins was.
Still, there has to be a good reason for Browner’s meeting getting cancelled and it’s unclear if Browner backed out or if it was Washington who decided to nix the meeting.
